Dicrossus filamentosus

Description

Geographic Range: Endemic throughout Colombia and Venezuela, from the Rio Inírida to Maripa and in the Rio Orinoco. It can also be found in parts of the Brazilian Rio Negro.
Diet: D. filamentosus is omnivorous by nature. In the wild, they graze on small invertebrates and plant matter. In the aquarium, they will readily accept most high quality prepared foods, such as spirulina flakes or sinking pellets. For the best quality and condition, frozen foods such as brine shrimp, spirulina brine shrimp, and daphnia should be offered regularly as well.

General Notes: Ideally kept as a pair or small group (6 or more). Prefers a dimly lit, well planted aquarium with plenty of hiding places. Prefers highly acidic water for breeding conditions- can tolerate up to 7.5 pH.
