Geographic Range: Lake Tanganyika, Africa
Diet: Carnivorous; primarily feeds on small fish and invertebrates.
Average Adult Size: 8-10 inches
Preferred Water Parameters: pH 8.0-9.0, Temperature 75-82°F
Minimum Tank Size: 75 gallons
Acceptable Tank Mates: Other large Tanganyikan cichlids. They are aggressive and territorial, so provide ample hiding spots and rock structures to establish territories. Avoid keeping with much smaller or non-aggressive species. Ensure the tank has a sandy substrate and plenty of caves for hiding.
